Google: no more than 2% of couples published usernames and passwords could be working – iXBT.com

This week it was revealed several lists, supposedly containing data of users of Google and other Internet companies.

Checking specialists showed that less than 2% of couples logins and passwords may have been working, and tampering automatic Goocle counter blocked attempts to access my account. Owners of these accounts have been sent notice of the need to change your password.

Google notes that the leaked usernames and passwords is not the result of hacking of Google. Often these credentials obtained from a combination of other sources. For example, if you use the same username and password on different sites, and one of these sites has been compromised, your credentials can be used to log on to other pages. Attackers can also use malware or phishing schemes to intercept data on login and password.
