Employees’ Division of New Materials “Tomsk State University (TSU), together with colleagues RAS create a new type of flexible solar cell-based Grettselya. Of the new flexible solar panels can sew clothes, to generate electricity and heat. Know-how is very important in the climatic conditions of Siberia, where the clear sunny days is extremely small, the press service of the Tomsk State University (TSU).

Dye-sensitized solar cell is a third generation photovoltaic technologies. It is made of cheap materials and does not need complex equipment. For this invention author Michael Grettselya received technical Millennium Award.

Employees “Department of New Materials”, Tomsk State University, together with colleagues RAS create a new kind of solar cell-based Grettselya. The basis for them to serve oxide nanomaterials and compositions thereof. The solutions from which the oxide composition may be applied to any flexible medium: tissue, metal, and polymeric materials, thin glass. After baking surface carrier is formed superfine composite coating, having the ability to convert sunlight into electricity.

«to apply our technology can be in different areas: domestic, agricultural, defense industry and others, – quotes the head of the laboratory” Multifunctional Materials “Lyudmila Borilo site tsu.ru. – For example, flexible solar panels can take a hike, use them to charge a laptop or mobile phone. Such a source of electricity is easy to transport, it can be rolled up into a roll and put in a backpack. Another promising option – the creation of tissue that has the ability to generate heat from sunlight. Clothing from it will be easy, but at the same time very warm. This is the best option for people who work in the Arctic in the north or in harsh environments ».

The technical complexity of creating such a fabric is only one thing: the need to develop a method for obtaining low-temperature oxide nanoparticles and their compositions to nanoparticles at baking securely anchored in the structure of the material and not washed out during washing and during operation.

The feature solar panels produced at TSU, is that they, unlike their silicon “brothers” significantly easier and cheaper. Another major advantage is the ability of sensitized solar cells generate electricity even in cloudy weather. It is very important to the climatic conditions of Siberia, where the clear sunny days are very few.

The department “New Materials electrical and chemical industry” create multifunctional materials and work at the intersection of several sciences: chemistry, physics and biology. In the piggy bank of a lot of different inventions of medicine, electronics and lighting, efficient catalysts, building materials of new generation to the solar industry, said westsib.ru.

The solutions from which the oxide composition can be applied to any flexible media: fabric, metal and polymer materials, thin glass, adds sibnet.ru. After baking, the carrier is formed on the surface superfine composite coating, having the ability to convert sunlight into electricity. These batteries, unlike their silicon “brothers”, is much easier and cheaper.
