Washington, June 9, 2015, 05:05 – REGNUM NASA announced fails held in Hawaii tests supersonic parachute which is intended to be used in the future to ensure a soft landing on Mars.

According to the press service of NASA, during the test worked only one of the two systems, which were to ensure a soft landing device into the Pacific Ocean from a height of 54 kilometer. Clarifies that the parachute was released, but did not open.

The first test of the system, we recall, was made in June 2014. Then the parachute did not open and fully lowered and the rate of the device was unable to pay off sufficiently.

The program, developed by NASA, in which tests are conducted, involves the launch in 2035 of a manned spacecraft to Mars, followed by a touchdown and landing astronauts on the surface of the Red Planet.
