WASHINGTON, Oct. 7 – RIA Novosti. The Nobel Prize in Chemistry, who was born in Turkey Aziz Sanjar, hopes for a peaceful settlement of the Syrian crisis, this he said at a press conference on the occasion of the award of the prizes on Wednesday.
“I came from a small Turkish town near the Syrian border … I hope that together we will come to a peaceful resolution (of the problem),” – said the graduate of Istanbul University, at which in addition there is also a Turkish American citizenship. Sanjar works at the University of North Carolina.
Sanjar was awarded the Nobel committee for the study of the mechanism of recovery of cells damaged by ultraviolet radiation. Speaking to reporters at a press conference at the University of North Carolina, he expressed confidence that his study is a contribution to the prevention of cancer.

The award ceremony on Wednesday presented the laureates will be held on December 10 in the tradition of the day of death of the founder of the Nobel Prizes – Swedish businessman and inventor Alfred Nobel (1833-1896). Four of the five prizes bequeathed by him – in physiology or medicine, physics, chemistry and literature, as well as in economics, established in 1968 in memory of Nobel Swedish State Bank, will be awarded in Stockholm. Peace Prize, according to the will of its founder, is always awarded in Oslo and also on December 10.
The amount of each of the Nobel Prizes in the 2015 is 8 million kronor (953,000 dollars).
