The Russian theology adopted as a new scientific specialty – RBC

The Presidium of the Higher Attestation Commission (HAC) in the Ministry of Education of Russia approved the passport of a new scientific specialty “theology”. This was reported at the WAC.

According to the passport of the specialty “theology”, it examines the sources of theological knowledge, the basics of faith and religious rituals, historical forms and practices of religious organizations.

Among the areas of study of theology in the passport of the specialty called in particular “theological doctrine of the relation between religious faith and reason”, liturgy, religious rituals, worship, “a theological explanation of the historical process”, “theological doctrine of respect for science”, “theological analysis urgent problems of our time “and others.

In February this year the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Kirill said that the increase in the budget now being discussed places of training theologians in secular universities. According to the patriarch, already has an agreement with the Ministry of Education to establish a mechanism for adjusting the admission quotas for budget places in theology since 2016.

On September 1, 2012, students of 4 classes of Russian schools have begun to study the course ” Fundamentals of religious cultures and secular ethics. ” As part of this optional subject students and their parents learn the basics of the Orthodox, Muslim, Buddhist and Jewish cultures, as well as the basics of secular ethics.
