Solar eclipse: how it was – Amic.ru

The solar eclipse of March 20 excited the Russians. Although, this time a total eclipse in Russia was not observed. As reported by News in
St. Petersburg and Moscow in the maximum phase of the sun was closed more
than half – 78% and 65% respectively. But the weather was on the side of Muscovites. Here the eclipse could be seen better because of the lack of cloud haze.

A partial eclipse – a rare phenomenon in the center and north-west
Russia. In Moscow and St. Petersburg next eclipse will be only in 2018
year. But that is only the edge of the lunar disk.

In Krasnodar moon covers the sun by 41%, and in Eastern Siberia
rare astronomical phenomenon virtually no due and sunset
  twilight.

In Grozny moon covered the sun only 30%, and in Ulan-Ude – by 23%.

The most successful conditions for observing the solar eclipse were
on Svalbard, said a spokesman for the Institute of Applied
 Astronomy Nicholas Zheleznov.

From Murmansk special route, accompanying the lunar shadow,
flight departed with those wishing to see the rare phenomenon without interference from
cloud – passengers and aircraft pilots observed the eclipse over the Barents Sea.

The band total eclipse took place in the spring 2015 in the northern hemisphere
on the North Atlantic Ocean about Greenland
 by Iceland to Scandinavia.

Two minutes of life without the sun

The solar eclipse helped to activate tourism.
Faroe Islands attended by about 8,000 tourists to like to
Svalbard see how within two minutes the solar disk completely
 Moon is closed.

For some pilots eclipse liners changed flight routes
specifically to the passengers were able to look at the “dark
 sun “.

Unsafe entertainment

Solar eclipse – not quite safe entertainment.
Especially if precautions are not taken. Watch eclipse
first proposed the telescope Galileo Galilei. Since then, astronomers joke
to look through a telescope without special filters at a solar eclipse
you can only twice – once right eye, the second – the left.

Also, do not look at a solar eclipse without professional filters through binoculars.

I’m sorry this ultraviolet able to burn in seconds
retina, thereby causing, at best, temporary blindness.
Recorded and cases where the observations of the Sun lead to blindness,
  which can not be cured.

“At the time of maximum eclipse it can be expressed in a slightly noticeable darkening” – said Nikolai Zheleznov.

can darken the day, only if the Moon will cover 90 percent of the surface of the sun disk.

From solar radiation eyes do not save and ordinary sunglasses.

It is best to observe the solar disk overlap Moon
suitable zakopchёnnye glass plates irradiated by photographic film, old
floppy disks, foil and even X-rays. Suitable for observation
 eclipse and the welder’s helmet.

Many Muscovites tried to remove eclipse mobile phone cameras. It did not work at all – even after treatment on pictures instead of solar antlered sickle produces a rough oval.

Observers prevented polar bear

However, there are unexpected incidents.

On the tourists watching the solar eclipse in Norway, was attacked by a polar bear. Six friends a few months
preparing for this trip – only to evil beast weighing
more than 180 kilograms of spoiled them all the travel experience.

The bear was in the camp of Czech tourists and attacked the 37-letnegno
Jakub Moravec. Man injured face, back and chest. Bear
 subsequently shot.

For the eclipse Moscow has allocated spetsmesta

Sites for observing the solar eclipse appeared in Moscow
large parks – Sokolniki and Gorky Park. There have been installed
telescopes with professional filters. Also, in these locations
 could communicate with astronomers.

“What is an eclipse? Actually, it’s a new moon. Solar eclipse
always takes place on the new moon, new moon only if ordinary, Moon
or passes over the sun, or the sun. And it is sometimes overlap -
from two to five times a year, when it passes through the sun, then
eclipse happens, “- explained the phenomenon of the press secretary of the Institute
  Applied Astronomy Nicholas Zheleznov.

In the Moscow Planetarium gathered about 500 eager to see rare
astronomical phenomenon. Many are willing to had to refuse – to record
visit the planetarium was closed even 17 March.

Abandoned Earth shadow of the Moon

The eclipse is observed only in those places where the moon casts its
shadow. On the earth’s surface the Moon’s shadow covers only about two hundred
 kilometers in diameter.

Value for science

Eclipse is of practical scientific interest for over 100 years
back then with their help astronomers refined time. Now for this purpose
disposal of scientists have more accurate tools – atomic chronometers and
eclipses are more interested photographers and amateur astronomers as a bright
 cosmic phenomenon.

The first pictures of the eclipse were made at the end of the XIX century.

September 28 Russians waiting for a new astronomical entertainment

In 2015 year Russians will be able to watch one more noteworthy
astronomical phenomenon – a lunar eclipse. It will see residents in the west
Russia on September 28. Now the Earth will “avenge” the moon and “snaps” on
a line between it and the sun.

This year will another solar eclipse on September 13.
But it can be observed in southern Africa, Madagascar and
 Antarctica.

The next total solar eclipse will be visible in the resorts – in Spain in 2026 and twice in Egypt – in 2027 and 2034, respectively. In the European part of Russia will be only one total eclipse. Now it happens only in 2061. In Moscow, a total solar eclipse will occur in the next century – October 16, 2126.

Meanwhile, the Internet has a video which show complete
solar eclipse. The most anticipated astronomical phenomenon captured
crew AXE Russia, who was watching this phenomenon at
 Spitsbergen.
