The Olympic torch will visit the open space - TVNZ

Roscosmos has officially confirmed that the Olympic torch to the Games in Sochi will fly into orbit. True, there’s fire: the International Space Station no open fire will not start, and even in space, it will not burn.

According to the deputy head of Roscosmos Vitaly Davydov, a scenario of access to space has already been agreed with the Russian Olympic Committee. Organizing Committee “Sochi-2014″ confirmed the information to us. However, the details are not disclosed. Most likely, the torch will leave Earth in November, when, and will be held unscheduled spacewalk. The Olympic torch will deliver into orbit spacecraft “Soyuz TMA-11M”, and vacuum it will make Russian cosmonauts Oleg Kotov and Sergey Ryazan.

Recall that the Olympic torch relay kicks off Oct. 7, 2013-go, the length of the course – 65 thousand kilometers. In addition to guided tours in open space, the torch will visit on the bottom of Lake Baikal, on the highest mountain Elbrus, Europe and the North Pole.
