06.07.2013, Moscow 11:19:37 Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree which approves the position of the Coordinating Council of fundamental research in Russia in 2013-2020gg. As stated in the press service of the Russian government, the co-chairs of the Council appointed the Minister of Education and Science (MES) Dmitry Livanov and president of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), Vladimir Forts.
The council also will include heads (authorized representatives – the heads of structural units responsible for conducting fundamental research) program participants, representatives of the Russian Union of Rectors (PCP), the Association of the leading universities and the business community.
To achieve the objectives of the program council shall have a number of features, including the adoption of guidance documents for competitive selection of projects, presentation and examination of accounting materials, and to avoid duplication of financial support for scientific research. In addition, the position provides for the establishment of expert advice and scientific working groups on matters necessary to meet the challenges of the program.
