Scientists have recorded a record of CO2 in the atmosphere - Arguments and Facts

Last

carbon dioxide is present in an amount in the air a few million years ago

Moscow, May 12 – AIF Moscow. Scientists have recorded a record high content of carbon dioxide CO 2 in the Earth’s atmosphere – reports The Guardian.

According to the measurements of the chemical composition of the air, the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere exceeded 400 parts per million (ppm). This figure is obtained for the first time in the history of mankind. The last time this amount of CO2 in the air is a few million years ago, when our planet’s climate was much warmer than today, the Arctic was not covered by ice, and the ocean level was about 40 meters higher.

level measurements CO 2 in the atmosphere began in 1958, when the figure stood at 315 ppm.

However, not all scientists believe that increasing levels of CO 2 in the atmosphere due to anthropogenic factors. Some researchers have noted that the concentration of carbon dioxide increases and decreases in a wide range before the appearance of the human species, and this process is oscillatory. Also, some scholars note that there is currently no conclusive evidence of the existence of the “greenhouse effect.”
