PETERSBURG, December 7. / ITAR-TASS /. Earth is going through a meteor shower Puppids-Velids and night from 8 to 9 December meteors can be observed up to 15 units per hour, told Itar-Tass spokesman Main (Pulkovo) Astronomical Observatory Sergei Smirnov. He clarified that the meteors can be seen in the absence of clouds.

To an observer in the northern hemisphere, the picture will look like if meteors flew up into the sky from the horizon line, the scientist said. According to him, in the Southern Hemisphere will be visible and the point in the constellation Puppids-Velids, which departs from a meteor shower. According to Smirnov, the stream represents the remains of a comet or asteroid. When small pieces of this material enter the atmosphere, they burn up instantly without a trace. It has long been believed that if in time to make a wish while the meteor is still visible, it will come true.

Constellation Puppids-Velids appeared as a result of the fact that modern astronomy is divided into parts larger constellation that bore the name of the ship of the Argonauts.
