This is a rare astronomical phenomenon called the “Blue Moon.” Satellite Earth that night so called not because of the color – the Moon looks usual, but because of the rarity of this natural phenomenon.
The English language has a stable idiom Once in a Blue Moon («once at the blue Moon “), it is used when talking about some very rare cases and improbable events.
