Tomsk scientists: Worms can be used in the production of meat and cosmetics – RIA “VistaNews”

Researchers from the Tomsk State University offer to produce cosmetics, medicines and even food from ordinary earthworms. Moreover, they argue that over time the breeding of earthworms become a lucrative business.

Scientists from the Tomsk headed A.Babenko want to solve the global problems of humanity, in particular, the problem of shortage of animal protein, with the help of ordinary earthworms. Experiments have shown that the protein earthworm is not inferior to the amount of protein and protein veal may be a component of dietary products. Now scientists are working on improving the technology of breeding and nurturing worms. According to preliminary calculations, using low-energy substrates may increase the population of
