Shoigu: WGI intends to protect the copyrights on its products – RIA Novosti

MOSCOW, July 29 – RIA Novosti. Russian Geographical Society (RGS) intends this year to protect the copyright of their intellectual products, including books and photographs, said Wednesday the president of the Russian Geographical Society Sergei Shoigu.

“We have secured the legal rights and to our archives and our archival materials and photographs” – said Shoigu at the headquarters of the Russian Geographical Society in the first meeting of the Media Council.

On his opinion, this work can begin already during the First All-Russian photo contest WGI “The most beautiful country”, which will take place this year, copyrighted participants.

According to Shoigu, many photos RGO in including those made in the nineteenth century, published in various international journals. In particular, 600 unique photographs have appeared in the US and now appear to light in fragments, but the pictures were taken at the direction of Russian emperor. Books RGS can be found on book bazaars around the world. He said he recently purchased two books RGO in Havana.

The president also recalled the history of the RGS recovery of small medal of the Russian Geographical Society in the form in which they existed more than 130 years ago. The medal was acquired by one of our auctions overseas compatriots and sent to the chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Russian Geographical Society, Vladimir Putin.
