Moved launch of “Proton” – Utro.Ru

Start carrier rocket “Proton-M” with the upper stage “Briz-M” and telecommunications spacecraft “Express AMU1″, which was planned to start on Thursday at 00:30 MSK from Baikonur, moved to December 25 at 00: 31 MSK, the press service of the Russian Space Agency.

The satellite “Express AMU1″ built by the European concern “Astrium” commissioned by the Russian state-owned enterprise “Space communication”. The spacecraft has a mass of about 5700 kg and carries 70 transponders (antenna relay), working in two ranges. The satellite will be positioned in geostationary orbit at distances of 36 degrees East, where it will be in 15 years to serve the territory of Russia, providing television services and providing access to Internet applications. Subscribers systems direct broadcast via individual satellite receiver antennas will be able to watch a modern quality television, including high-definition television and 3D communication services and advanced interactive services.

In addition to the European part of Russia, the satellite will provide services to customers in Europe as well as the inhabitants of the African continent south of the Sahara. One of the characteristics of the satellite is that the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Russian Satellite Communications” company, and Eutelsat will share the capacity of a telecommunications satellite under the contract concluded between them, so often in the media referred to as satellite “Express AMU1 / EUTELSAT 36C”.
