MOSCOW, December 25th. / TASS /. The upper stage “Briz-M” spacecraft communication “Express AMU1″ successfully separated from the third stage carrier rocket “Proton-M” and went on suborbital trajectory, told Tass in Roskosmos.

Carrier rocket” Proton-M “was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome (Kazakhstan) at 00:31 MSK December 25 . It was the final and the 18th since the beginning of the year launch vehicle from the Baikonur Cosmodrome. Originally scheduled for launch on December 24 at 00:30 MSK, but was postponed for a day due to strong winds at the launch site.
It is planned that after separation from the third stage of “Proton”, a further injection into the target orbit is implemented by a few inclusions sustainer propulsion unit “Breeze-M”. At 09:43 MSK will split “Express” and “Breeze”.
“Express AMU1″ made European concern Astrium. The device launch weight of about 5.9 tons of carries 70 transponders operating in Ku- and Ka-band. He will be placed in geostationary orbit at distances of 36 degrees east longitude. The satellite will serve the territory of Russia, Europe and sub-Saharan Africa.
It is planned that the “Express AMU1″ will be operated for 15 years. Previously, the general director of “Space Communications” Yuri Prokhorov said that the introduction of “Express” is planned for the first quarter of 2016.
