Scientists have expressed accurate assumption that the comet 67P / Churyumov-Gerasimenko, opened in 1969. Ukrainian astronomers may be inhabited. Earlier Rosetta probe also discovered strange accumulations of organic matter, which resembles a virus particle.

All this indicates that in the creation of comet ice structures involving microorganisms that can live in a mixture of ice and organic material, which is warming in the Sun: the microorganisms, according to scientists, contain salts that act as antifreeze, so are able to remain active at temperatures below 40 degrees.

 

These findings phones ESA made despite the fact that they are not equipped with devices for the direct detection of life – in fact, 15 years ago, when preparing the project on such a proposal would only laugh, says astronomer and astrobiologist Chandra Wickramasinghe. Now the scientist and his team believe that the comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko, can serve as a home to living organisms. According to them, it is like a comet could once bring life to Earth.

As it turned out, this comet is dual core, the shape is more reminiscent of a rubber duck three-by-five kilometers. At the end of last year, the comet was at a distance of 400 million kilometers from Earth and moving at a speed of about 55,000 kilometers per hour.
