The man of the future will webbed limbs and a thick layer of fat – Ghhauto: Russian top stories

Scientists say that the human body can acquire the developed webbed limbs (like aquatic animals) and a thick layer of adipose tissue (as in seals). Matthew Skinner paleoanthropologist from Kent State University scientist said about this in the last issue of the series Extant, reports The Telegraph.

These changes are a response of the human body to raise global sea level. The appearance of membranes (the skin between the fingers at the moving of the water animals) and the reduction of hair allow, in particular, will move on the water.

Skinner predicts lengthening the size of the limbs (and their evolution in a limb with membranes), as in ducks, and a reduction in lung volume (for a comfortable stay under water). The man’s eyes will remind the authorities of the cat (in order to see better in murky water). Membrane will increase the area of contact with the legs with water, and behind the retina in humans may be a new layer of fabric – the tapetum, which allow people to see better in low light conditions. In addition, the person will have more fat tissue (for keeping warm in cold water).

By the sea level rise may cause the melting of glaciers, arising, in particular, due to anthropogenic factors (eg, greenhouse gas emissions). As a result, the natural habitat of man will not land, as it is now, and marine areas.

In an alternative scenario Skinner admits that the man of the future will fall to Earth after a large asteroid or comet. The catastrophe will cause the planet to dive into a new ice age, resulting in decreases the permeability of the atmosphere to sunlight. The lack of radiation from the sun will lead to a lightening of the skin and hair of the person (for better absorption of vitamin D). Increase the nose and face in general (for a better warm-cold air), and the amount of hair and body sizes of people (for heating in cold conditions).

Skinner in their assumptions and did not stop at this. According to him, a man who will live on Mars, should be reduced in size. This is due to the lack of natural competitors and with a reduction in the need for physical activity. According to the scientist, most likely will evolve human jaw (decrease) and teeth disappear altogether.

The latter is due to the practice of cooking food and the use of ready-made products. “Theoretically, we could look like babies whose mouths are intended only to swallow, but would have a big brain,” – concluded Skinner.
