The American probe as close orbited Jupiter – Rosbalt.RU


 The Juno spacecraft, currently on a mission to Jupiter’s orbit and circled the planet as close as possible, said on his Twitter NASA. The probe is moved at a distance of 4.2 thousand. Km of the upper layer of Jupiter’s atmosphere.

 As the BBC notes, none of the spacecraft before come so close to the planet during the main phase I of its mission.

 It is expected that the first images that give the Juno, will be published in the coming weeks, NASA reported. The images will be in the highest possible resolution captures the atmosphere of Jupiter. In addition, for the first time on pictures will be visible north and south poles of the planet.

 The aim of the probe is to study the gravitational and magnetic fields of Jupiter, as well as testing the hypothesis about the presence of a solid core of the planet, the study of the atmosphere of Jupiter and the search for water on the planet. It is planned that after the studies in February 2018 Juno will give the command to enter the planet’s atmosphere, leading to destruction of the device.
