September 1 around 13:20 Moscow time in the Orenburg region carried out a successful landing lander “Foton-M» №4.
Run “Foton-M» №4 was carried out on July 19 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome . On board the satellite was installed 22 sets of scientific instruments. The program included the experimental production of materials and substances under conditions of space flight, carrying out biotechnological experiments, as well as to study the influence of open space on biological objects. For research on living organisms into space were sent geckos fly Drosophila, micro-organisms and seeds of higher plants.
The first stage of the scientific program of the machine “Foton-M» №4 lost contact. Subsequently, however, the problem persists, and the continued implementation of a satellite mission.
It is noted that “Foton-M» №4 intended primarily for the microgravity experiments, providing reception of new knowledge on the physics of weightlessness, mining manufacturing processes of semiconductor materials, biomedical products with improved performance, as well as for biological and biotechnological research.
The mass of the satellite was 6840 kg, the mass of scientific equipment – 850 kg (600 kg lander inside and outside 250 kg ). The average height of the orbit “Foton-M» №4 was 575 km, which is higher than the average height of the orbit of the International Space Station. Now, researchers will conduct a thorough analysis of the data.
