On the eve of the opening of the exhibition of consumer electronics CES 2015, NVIDIA has officially presented the latest development in the field of SoC in the face of Tegra X1, which creators are invariably referred to as mobile superchipom. The special features include eight new items ARM-core configuration big.LITTLE, which includes a quartet for energy-efficient Cortex-A53 and powerful Cortex-A57, as well as graphics architecture Maxwell. This design improves both graphical and computational performance of the chip (the latter, incidentally, can theoretically reach teraflops). As for the graphics component NVIDIA Tegra X1, there also includes 256 cores Maxwell.
Thus, the mobile superchip NVIDIA Tegra X1 is able to significantly enhance the ability of gadgets in which it will be used (probably before they become all upscale tablet computers and portable game consoles new generation). Note that this SoC is made with the 20-nm technology standards and is able to cope with 4K-video playback at 60 frames / s in H.265 format and Google VP9, and also supports DirectX 12, OpenGL 4.5, CUDA and OpenGL ES 3.1 . As can be seen on the results of testing 64-bit Tegra X1 really is able to provide superior performance, but with a decent mobile chip power consumption. It remains to see that the show ready devices based on it.
