Eight newly discovered rocky planets are possible Goldilocks planet. This was confirmed by scientists at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center and other research teams during a meeting of the American Astronomical Society in Seattle.
But just 20 years ago, the scientific world and had no idea that such planets exist, astronomer and recalled Yelfya Debra Fischer.
However, the absolute twin planet, astronomers have not yet found. Only two of them – Kepler 438b and Kepler 442b – as close to Earth-size and also revolve around stars that are slightly smaller and cooler than our sun.
A detailed study of all the detected planets difficult to very large distance: they are all hundreds of light-years from Earth. To search for habitable planets in close proximity to the Earth in 2017 is expected to launch research satellite TESS (Transiting Exopkanet Syrevy Satellite).
In the near future astronomers from around the world will present a number of projects that will help a detailed study of distant planets, and and the discovery of new potentially habitable space bodies. At the heart of several projects based on the principle of so-called stellar shade – this overlap of the interfering terrestrial telescopes of light that will help detect previously invisible from Earth celestial bodies.
In addition, a number of universities and observatories is preparing a project to create a telescope with a diameter of 10 up to 12 meters, which will study the composition of the atmosphere and surface of the distant exoplanets.
