In Odessa, hundreds of residents commemorated the victims of the May tragedy – TASS

ODESSA 2 January. / TASS /. In Odessa, a traditional meeting in memory of the victims of the tragedy of May.

Hundreds of citizens, despite the fact that many areas of the city cut off by snow drifts, gathered in the square Kulikovo Field near the House of Trade Unions. They cleared the snow and found posters with photographs of the victims, lit candles and laid flowers at the memorial improvised.

Speaking before them NGO activists noted that the perpetrators of the tragedy on May 2 has not yet been punished. Many of them, despite the obvious evidence of their crimes on the loose and live a normal life. In addition, meeting indignantly pointed out that the official propaganda often represents events on May 2 as a deed committed by “patriots” to defend the city from the “separatists”. Participants of the rally chanted “perpetrators to justice!”, “Do not forget, do not forgive!”.

May 2, 2014 in Odessa, activists of the “right sector” and the so-called “self-Maidan” burned tent city of Kulikovo where Odessites collected signatures for a referendum on the federalization of Ukraine and to grant the Russian language official status. Supporters of federalization took refuge in the House of Trade Unions, but radicals surrounded the building and set it on fire. In those tragic events of 48 people were killed and over 200 injured. Court in Kiev released from custody a few main accused in the case.
