Geneticists from Denmark conducted a study and concluded that the risk of children can be reduced if the future father, who suffers from this disease, will lose weight before conception. The study of genetics from Denmark decided to check the information received after studying the genetic material of one of the residents of villages in Sweden, once suffered from severe hunger. As experts found, the data on this period in the life of the organism remained epigenetic memory, i.e. in the protein structure, that packed in the DNA strand. Thus, the researchers concluded that the descendants of those who once had to starve, become more at risk of vascular disease, diabetes and obesity.
After receiving the data, conducted an experiment genetics. The first part was this: take sperm from ten thin ten obese men. Differences were found: on the labels on the surface of methyl genes among short RNA molecules. Next, the volunteers at the request of scientists made free surgery – gastric bypass surgery to lose weight. After a little time has passed genetics again men have sperm, its analysis showed that the structure of the cells of men who were overweight, close to the structure leaner subjects.
As a result of conducted studies of Danish geneticists have found that along with the special labels on the surface of the DNA in the sperm – the data on the status of the body of his father at the moment, this information in the future could affect the tendency of the child to the weight gain.
One of the study authors Romain Barre from the University of Copenhagen said:
