MOSCOW, December 3 – RIA Novosti. The launch of the prototype gravitational Observatory LISA Pathfinder took place on December 3 at 07.04 MSK, according to the European Space Agency.

Telescope LISA Pathfinder, whose assembly and testing was completed in August, will be the first space observatory, by which humanity will look for traces of gravitational waves generated by interactions between large and very heavy objects in deep space.

It is a kind of “trial balloon” in a large project to build LISA, a space system to find these waves, initiated in 2001 jointly by NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA).
