The US space agency NASA has invited Russia to hold a series of annual joint flights American astronaut and Russian cosmonaut to the International Space Station (ISS). About this newspaper “Izvestia” on December 8.

Oleg Orlov, Deputy Director of the Institute of Biomedical Problems RAS, said that the Russian side is actively preparing for the first collaboration with the Americans expedition to the ISS, which will last a year. According to Orlov, next week, senior representatives from NASA will come to Moscow to continue the development of a joint program. The scientist said that the US side proposes to continue a series of annual flight with Russian cosmonauts and an American astronaut who will perform partly a joint research program.

Russia interested in interplanetary flights

«We are interested, but not from the point of view of studying the impact on the human body a large number of days in space, and with a view to working out medical support interplanetary missions, – says Orlov. – Our institute has accumulated considerable experience in extremely long flight – a year or more were flying at the station “Mir” to 6 people. A high-ranking source in the Russian Space Agency said that the Chinese are also interested in cooperation with Russia for the mission to the ISS.
