Scientists have for the first time fixed gravitational waves – distortions in space-time predicted by Einstein. According to them, the discovery will allow a better understanding of the mysterious objects like black holes and neutron stars

An international team of physicists stated that opened gravitational waves – distortions in space-time whose existence is predicted by Albert Einstein. This, they said at a press conference in Washington.

«We discovered gravitational waves. We made it, “- said the chief scientist in the group, David Ritz. The waves were recorded in September detectors LIGO gravitational observatory in Louisiana and Washington.

According to the scientists, gravitational waves have resulted from the collision of two black holes masses about 30 times larger than the sun. The phenomenon occurred in 1.3 billion light years from Earth.

Einstein suggested the existence of gravitational waves in 1916 as a result of their open general theory of relativity. However, before this discovery were known to science only indirect evidence of their existence.
