In Sweden, a patient with a transplanted uterus first time in history managed to have a baby.

36-year-old woman who was born without a uterus, has received a donor organ from his 61-year-old cousin.

So far, for women with this diagnosis there was only one way to get your own child – surrogacy.

According to the British medical journal Lancet, the child was born in September.

The boy was born prematurely, weighing 1 kg 800 grams, but the doctors say that the mother and child are doing well.

The woman was one of the nine participants of the pilot project in Sweden, in which a year ago, they were transplanted into the uterus of their relatives.

Some of the participants in the study were born without a uterus, others have this body was removed from the -this cervical cancer.

It is reported that two other participants of the project are currently pregnant.

The main reasons for the absence of the uterus in women is cancer, and birth defects.
