The federal mobile operator Yota, together with the analytical agency «TMT-Consulting”, presented the results of research the popularity of mobile Internet in Russia. The survey was conducted among mobile Internet users in the cities of three types: a megacity with a population of over 10 million people (Moscow), a regional center with a population of more than 1 million people (Nizhny Novgorod), a regional center with a population of over 300 thousand. About 88% of mobile Internet users in these regions are located in a network with a smart phone on a daily basis, 3% – several times a month, 1% of users use the Internet on a mobile only once a month. In Moscow, 75% of smartphone users are browsing with e-mail, 69% use the Internet on your mobile for navigation, 68% – to communicate in social networks. In Nizhny Novgorod, social networking preference for 77% of users are less popular navigation and instant messenger. In Kurgan highest popularity of social networks (82%), the lowest percentage of email users (50%) and instant messengers (38%) compared with other cities studied.
Muscovites spend on navigation, on average 24 minutes a day, 21 minutes to view social networking sites, and 15 minutes by e-mail. Barrow ahead of the capital and Nizhny Novgorod on the popularity of social networking. A quarter of respondents give them about three hours a day. In addition, unlike Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod, Kurgan residents often use mobile Internet at home (27%). It is also distinguished by the popularity of regional centers of entertainment services and game content.
