The Russian military in 2019 will begin to deploy the new cosmic system of optical-electronic intelligence, the basis of which will be “Hrazdan” type satellites. On Thursday, July 28, the newspaper “Kommersant».
The publication, citing two sources in the industry, and one in the Defense Ministry reported that the Space Forces (part of the air and space forces) started consultations with “Progress” Samara rocket and space Centre. The objective is the technical design of the satellites opto-electronic reconnaissance type 14F156 «Hrazdan».

These devices have replaced the previous satellites 14F137 generation “Person” type. From 2008 to 2015 the military put into orbit three such apparatus, but the first one has failed a few weeks after the launch (the warranty period of work – seven years).
The satellites of this class are used to obtain high resolution pictures . As the newspaper writes, during the Syrian campaign were revealed insufficient military capabilities constellation. As a result, the operational situation monitoring to the task had to involve civil devices to remote sensing of the Earth ( “Resource” and the “Canopus»).
A senior source in the defense industry told the publication that the “Distribute” get high-speed secure radio and as a fundamentally new payload. In particular, starting from the third series of the machine they will put new telescopes with a diameter of more than two meters, an optical system which makes the Krasnogorsk plant.
According to current plans, the first “Hrazdan” will be launched into orbit in 2019, second in the 2022-m, the third – in 2024-m
