During the spacewalk astronauts ISS Oleg Artemyev and Alexander Skvortsov manually launched nano-satellite, created by students. ITAR-TASS.
Nanosatellite NS-1 weighing 1.5 kg – joint development of students from Kursk and Peru. The device, which has an informal name “Chaska-1″ (the so-called messengers of the Inca Empire) sends a message to Earth in Morse code.
nanosatellites called class satellites weighing from 1 to 10 kg. Such devices are used for astronomical observations, environmental monitoring, as well as carrying out other research tasks. Device weighing from 0.1 to 1 kg is called pico-satellite.
Cosmonauts Skvortsov and Artemiev came EVA according to the program of the expedition, 40/41. The main objective of the session is to install on the outside of the station apparatus EXPOSE-R2, containing bacteria, plant seeds and other resting forms of biological objects.
