Tandem American researchers suggested that the absence of extraterrestrial life in the visible range of the universe because Earth-like planets have not yet formed. At the same time it is one of the first planets have passed all the stages, which allowed her to appear the conditions for the emergence of life. This is explained in an article published in the journal Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.

To such conclusions scientists came, working with data from a space telescope “Hubble”. In particular, they studied the availability of materials heavier than helium and hydrogen in distant galaxies, and calculated what would happen over time. This information was compared them with information about potentially habitable exoplanets discovered by the telescope, “Kepler.”

The researchers concluded that the Earth is one of the eight percent of the planets that formed relatively early. Yet only 92 per cent of the planets are in the early stages of formation and eventually will form during the six billion years.

According to the calculations of researchers, now in our galaxy there are about a billion Earth-like planets. It is assumed that over time this number will increase to one-hundred times. The probability that there is at least one extraterrestrial civilization is 90%.
