Universities should move in the rankings – Kommersant

Yesterday, the Ministry of Education has named the ten universities that join the government project “5-100.” Recall that in 2012, President Vladimir Putin issued a decree to set a target: by 2020, at least five Russian universities must enter into the top 100 one of the three global educational rankings – Shanghai, QS and Times Higher Education. To execute the decree was created the state program “5-100″, which brings together 14 universities: MIPT, Moscow Engineering Physics Institute, MISA, the HSE and others. They have been allocated from the state budget 54 billion rubles. in the years 2014-2016.

After two years, the Ministry has decided to expand the program participants. Applications for participation in the project have filed 18 colleges, and then from 23 to 24 October to protect the members of the expert council of “5-100″ their development programs. As a result, council, which is headed by the head of the Ministry of Education Dmitry Livanov, selected to participate in the program of six universities: Baltic Federal University, the First Moscow State Medical University, People’s Friendship University, Siberian Federal University, Tyumen State University and South Ural State University.

The project will not receive additional budget funding – new entrants will allocate funds through the old. As explained by “b” in the press service of the Ministry of Education, in the next two weeks will be held redistribution of resources – universities, failed to fulfill its development programs, will lose some of the budget, which will be transferred to beginners.

At the same time, Dmitry Livanov stressed the presentation of four universities that were not included in the project “5-100″: MAI, Southern Federal University, Perm National Research Polytechnic University and Saratov State University. “For these universities, we provided additional support measures outside the framework of the project”, – the minister promised.
