Media: the system of one of the nuclear power plants in Germany have discovered a computer virus – RIA Novosti

MOSCOW, April 27 – RIA Novosti. System German Gundremmingen nuclear power plant, located north-west of Munich, has been infected by computer viruses, reports Reuters referring to the statement of the company-operator station RWE.

The viruses did not affect the operation of the plant and did not bear a threat to its security, as NPP computers do not have access to the Internet, the agency said.

Malware was detected on the equipment, resulting in the movement of fuel bars, as well as on multiple computers and USB-drives. According to the agency, one of the viruses – W32.Ramnit – it allows hackers to gain remote access to the system if the infected computer is connected to the Internet. The virus was probably brought in the system in 2008.

The investigation of the incident involved the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). Office was not available for comment, the agency said.
