British astronaut became the first marathon in space – BBC

British astronaut Tim Peak on board the International Space Station took part in the London Marathon, reports Reuters.

44-year-old astronaut was a distance of 26.2 miles in 3 hours 35 minutes, becoming the first in the history of marathon in space. He was attached to a special treadmill aboard the ISS, watching the broadcast of the event in London in real time on the screen iPad.

noted that the result of the Earth’s Peak was higher: in 1999 he ran the London Marathon in 3 hours 18 minutes. It also reported that marathon winner in this year completed the distance in 2 hours and 3 minutes.

Before jogging astronaut posted on Twitter a photo of the British from the space of the capital.

About the decision to take part in the marathon Tim Peak said as early as last December. Then he said he hopes to run a distance of three and a half hours, as happened in the end.
