The University of Southern Denmark, the University of Sydney and the National Research Centre for Prevention and Health have developed a technique that reduces the time it spends in the office worker sitting position. It involves changing the office environment and implementation of seminars, meetings, planning meetings, where people use tables for sitting and standing.
Just experiment involved 317 employees from 19 offices in Denmark and Greenland. They were randomly assigned into two groups. The first used a new technique, and the second went to work as before. The time that the test was carried out in a sitting position for a five-day working week, the researchers pinpointing using accelerometers.
A month later, people in the experimental group were 71 per minute less than the control. A number of steps within one working day, they had a seven per cent higher. This has allowed them to reduce their weight by an average of 0.61 percent due to fat loss.
Scientists warn: sedentary office workers – it is one of the main causes of obesity, the emergence of problems with the cardiovascular system, and a number of other diseases
