Experts from the University of Michigan (USA) found that each year more and more people in the world suffer from the so called “sleep of the crisis” – a phenomenon that is characteristic of modern society, but half a century ago, people with it have not yet encountered, writes “Rossiyskaya Gazeta”

To understand this phenomenon, the experts conducted a study with the help of applications for smartphones, which are used in at least one hundred countries.
A few years scientists watched how people spend time, biologically pledged to sleep. This took into account age, gender, and even a light daily schedule of people from different corners of the world.
It is learned that the average amount of sleep in the world ranges from 7 hours 24 minutes in Singapore and Japan, up to 8 hours and 12 minutes in the Netherlands. Usually lack of sleep occurs in middle-aged men. It is emphasized that women on average sleep for half an hour longer.
The researchers said that in the 48 very significant difference, because the lack of sleep, even for half an hour can make a big impact on cognitive function and health. Also, a short nap may be the cause of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and other diseases.
