Module “Phil” on comet 67P came out of hibernation – RIA Novosti

MOSCOW, June 14 – RIA Novosti. Research Module “Phil”, landed on the comet 67P Churyumov-Gerasimenko for its study seven months ago came out of hibernation, the president of the French National Space Agency (CNES), Jean-Yves Le Gall.

After transferring data to Earth in November 2014 passed the module into sleep mode iz due to weak batteries. Previously, scientists said that “Phil” can resume scientific work in March – as soon as he will be enough sunlight to recharge.

The module “woke up” on Sunday night. “We have received signals from the new” Fila “for two minutes, about 40 seconds, important information”, – quotes AFP Le Gall.

The probe “Rosetta” comet 67P to study Churyumov-Gerasimenko went into space more than ten years ago, in March 2004. The descent module “Phil” (Philae) “Rosetta” November 12, 2014 made a historic landing on the comet. A day later, “Phil” started to collect data on the composition of the cometary soil.
