Devices “Review-O” should take pictures of the Earth in eight spectral bands, including visible and infrared. Camera resolution in the visible range was planned at the level of 5 m in the infrared – 20 m.
On the first stage of the system – in 2015-2017 – it was supposed to bring into orbit two satellites, in this configuration, the system had to provide a survey of the entire territory of Russia for about 30 days. By 2019, planned to deploy at full strength.
Last December, the new management of the Khrunichev Center has decided to stop work on the project, which has already signed contracts for the supply of: in particular, EADS Astrium ¤7 million received for the production of gyroscopes, sensors and communications equipment for the two spacecraft. The Khrunichev Center then explained that under the program of financial recovery of industry guidance recommended to focus on the main areas of activity: the production of launch vehicles “Angara” and “Proton-M” boosters “Breeze” and KVTK and nose cones. The Ministry of Environment has repeatedly stated that it is not satisfied with the state Office of the Russian Hydrometeorological group and its rate of replenishment.
