00:34 Archaeologists may have found a secret tomb of Nefertiti in the tomb of Tutankhamun – BFM.Ru

British archaeologist has suggested that a two frescoes in the tomb of Tutankhamun could be hiding a secret entrance to the tomb of Queen Nefertiti, whose remains have not been found

The famous British archaeologist Nicholas Reeves discovered in photos frescoes in the tomb of Tutankhamun traces of two doorways, hidden beneath a thin layer of plaster, one of which may lead to a secret and still not found the tomb of Queen Nefertiti, wife of Pharaoh Amenhotep reformer. This RIA Novosti reported, citing an article posted on the website Academia.edu.

It tells Reeves, the tomb of Amenhotep and Tutankhamun in the famous Valley of the Kings was discovered and excavated for a long time, in the early 20th century, but archaeologists and lovers of antiquity have not been able to find the resting place of Nefertiti.

The interior of the tomb of Tutankhamun, the archaeologist continues, and some details of his death mask, they say that originally all this wealth was not for a minor heir to the throne of the two kingdoms, and Nefertiti, who played the role of regent during the first years of his life. According to the archaeologist, about 80% of items from the tomb of Tutankhamun were not created for him, and for the previous Pharaoh and his adoptive mother regent.

In addition, in recent years, Reeves came to several written evidence in favor of the that the tomb of Nefertiti was to be located near the place where he was buried Tutankhamun. And then, and another has pushed the British archaeologist at the idea that her final resting place should be sought nearby.

Following this idea, Reeves began to study high-quality three-dimensional images of the tomb of Tutankhamun, in cultural expedition received from the company Factum Arte in 2014 year, hoping to find clues in the pictures for future searches.

Thanks to these photos, which you can see the individual strokes of paint, and the smallest surface irregularities, a British scientist was able to make an incredible discovery – two frescos on the west and the north wall of the tomb of the pharaoh It contains a series of grooves and traces of doorways hidden under a thin layer of plaster and other materials.

These openings, as suggested by Reeves, may obscure a two rooms, which are present in all the tombs of the pharaohs of 18 dynasties, except Tutankhamen. In the northern room, according to the scientist, given the “female” character jewelry and mask of Tutankhamun, Nefertiti may hide the remains.

This is supported by the fact that plaster and paint murals on its surface is markedly different in chemical composition from the materials that were used to decorate the other walls of the tomb. Even the background color of the frescoes is different – the other three walls are covered with paint yellow-golden hue, while the northern secret passage is painted in white color, and decked with patterns that were used in the earlier period of the 18th dynasty.

The cause of Tutankhamun’s burial in the same tomb that Nefertiti could be a sudden death at a young age of the pharaoh – architects, priests, and other craftsmen did not have time to prepare the future resting place of the ruler of two kingdoms, and were forced to bury it along with the foster mother and regent.

Of course, to test this hypothesis will require sacrifice and time – scientists will damage the frescoes in order to make sure that behind them lies the tomb of Nefertiti, or any other sensitive areas. According to Reeves, the first check can be carried out fully and in a safe way, enlightened fresco using the radar for the presence of voids behind it. However, even this would require permission from the authorities in Egypt.

Pharaoh Amenhotep and his wife Nefertiti and his son Tutankhamun is considered one of the brightest and most interesting of the rulers of ancient Egypt’s New Kingdom era. Amenhotep led one of the first in the history of the Earth’s religious reforms, try to replace the classical gods of Egypt and influential priests in the cult of worship of the Sun, represented himself as a model of beauty Nefertiti Bronze Age, and Tutankhamun attracted the attention of scientists and the public of his mysterious death at the age of 20 years untouched “curse” tomb.
