On Monday, a lunar eclipse coincides with the so-called Supermoon.

The moon revolves around the Earth is slightly elongated, elliptical orbit, and at the time of the eclipse will be in perigee – closest to the earth point. As a result, it looks much more normal.

A lunar eclipse, during which the moon will acquire a reddish tinge, it will be visible in North and South America, West Africa and Western Europe.

NASA says that the last lunar eclipse coincided with Supermoon in 1982. The next time this will happen in 2033.

In the western part of North America, eastern Europe and in other parts of the Middle East and South Asia, you will see a partial lunar eclipse.

In Western Europe, the eclipse will start shortly after midnight GMT. In North and South America, it will be seen on Sunday evening local time.

Getting a partial lunar eclipse in Moscow will have 4 hours 06 minutes Moscow time.

Since the Moon is at the nearest point to the Earth, it will look at 7-8% more than usual.

The Moon will also acquire a reddish color, resulting in Supermoon also called “blood moon”.

This is due to the fact that, even when fully closed from direct sunlight the Earth, the Moon will continue weakly illuminating tangential to the earth’s surface in the atmosphere of our planet.

Since the earth’s atmosphere best transmits red-orange part of the spectrum, the surface of the moon takes on a reddish hue.

During the eclipse the Moon will be closing a constellation Pisces.

With the full lunar eclipse of the Sun, Earth and Moon are aligned, and the Earth is blocking a moon from the sun.

From the Earth at this moment the moon appears reddish or brick colors. Depending on the weather conditions on Earth, it can also be the color of blood, or dark gray.

During the eclipse this year, the Moon will be only 357,877 kilometers from the Earth.

The eclipse will begin just after midnight – at 00:11 GMT, and the moon will be at this moment yellowish. The total eclipse will occur at 02:47 GMT. It will end at 05:22.

Unlike a solar eclipse, a lunar eclipse can be seen with the naked eye, as it poses no danger sight.
