MSU is back in the top 200 best universities in the world According to the magazine «Times Higher Education» Moscow State University named after Lomonosov again ranked in the top 200 world’s best universities. In addition, another major Russian university – Novosibirsk State University ranked in the top 400, and can now claim to be the world’s elite.

The authors of the ranking note that after two Russian universities have risen in the world rating, Russia can claim a place in the world elite. Moscow State University in the list of top universities in the world took 196 th position. The ranking is still – California Institute of Technology in the first position, Harvard – in the second position, Oxford – in the third, although last year was in the second position.

In addition, the three Russian University – Moscow Engineering -physical Institute, Novosibirsk State University and Moscow State University entered the top 100 of the best technical universities in the world. Also Lomonosov Moscow State University in the ranking «Quacquarelli Symonds» took 49th place, with the result that was in the top 50 world universities in mathematics and physics.

Rating «Quacquarelli Symonds» universities were evaluated on a 4-m criteria – h-index, citation index to the article, the opinion of employers and the academic community. In total, the study was conducted on 30 fields of study. As a result, in two directions MSU took 49th place with math – 75.4 points, and the Physics and Astronomy – 77.7 points.
