space agency NASA again has extended the contract with the Russian Space Agency to deliver US astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS). This is stated in a letter to NASA Director Charles Bolden to Congress, reports Reuters.
The contract extension until 2017 will cost US $ 490 million, the letter said.
In 2011, NASA stopped send astronauts into space on the American Shuttle. The new development of space taxis, together with Boeing and a private company SpaceX, is worth $ 100 billion.
According to the plan, the spacecraft that will be able to send astronauts to the ISS and take them back due to fly in 2017. But the leadership of NASA feared that the ship will not be ready by that date.
