Russians trusted Internet censorship and government intelligence agencies – Lenta.ru

42 per cent of Russians are ready to entrust the government regulation of the Internet, 41 percent – the secret services. This is with reference to the results of the joint research VTsIOM and Center for the Study of global communications at the University of Pennsylvania (USA), reported “Interfax».

32 per cent of respondents would trust scientists regulation, 30 – the president, 28 – the State Duma, 26 – private companies. Only 10 percent agreed to transfer the functions of international organizations without the active participation of Russian officials (such as the UN and ICANN).

A total of 49 percent of respondents believe that Internet censorship in principle necessary. It is noted that among regular users of the network, this share is less than – 43 percent. Supporters of greater regulation in the number of those who do not use Internet – 57 percent.
