NASA specialists discovered a giant asteroid that on Halloween, October 31 will approach the Earth at a record close in nine years away; the speed of a celestial body is 35 kilometers per second, which is uncharacteristically high rate, says the agency.
The object, dubbed 2015 TB145, will take place on the planet at a distance of 499 thousand. kilometers, which equals 1.3 the distance from the Earth to the Moon, RIA “Novosti” with reference to NASA.
According to researchers, the diameter of the asteroid can be from 280 to 620 meters, reports British newspaper The Mirror. The publication notes that according to the forecasts of scientists celestial body in 2015 TB145 is not a danger to Earth.
The last time a similar astronomical object flying in the vicinity of the Earth at a distance of 1.1 from the Earth to the Moon in 2006. The next approach to Earth asteroid of this size will take place in August 2027, said NASA.
October 14 Vzglyad reported that according to the materials of the international congress “Global and national strategies for risk management and natural disasters”, the threat of asteroid and comet hazard (ACH), can be successfully reduced in the case of solving the main problem – the early detection hazardous celestial bodies larger than 50 meters on the distant approaches to the planet and the risk assessment of their impact.
