On the most famous comet of our time – Churyumov-Gerasimenko (67P) there are conditions for the emergence of life. This was reported by the European Space Agency, coordinating mission Rosetta.
The probe Philae helped European investigators found on the surface of comet 16 organic compounds, which are saturated with carbon and nitrogen. Part detected probe substances plays a key role in the formation of amino acids, sugars and nukleina. Four compounds have hitherto not found on comets. European astrophysicists say that one of the compounds – formaldehyde – are involved in the synthesis of ribose, the derivative of which is a component of DNA.
The scientists argue that the presence of such complex molecules in the comet that occurred during the birth of the solar system, shows that chemical processes can play a key role in helping create the conditions for the emergence of life.
Rosetta mission designed to explain the processes of evolution of the solar system and the emergence of water on Earth. The mission includes an orbiter and a descent probe. Landing on the surface of the comet 67P (Churyumov-Gerasimenko) probe Philae made November 12, 2014. It was the first soft landing on the body of the Earth the comet nucleus. Studies have peak of August 13, 2015, when the comet approaches the Sun, the minimum distance and outflow of matter from its surface will occur at maximum speed.
