By the Earth flies Icarus – NIA – Tver

The asteroid Icarus, opened June 27, 1949 German astronomer Walter Baade at Palomar Observatory, the United States, close to the Earth as close.

 According to the “Times”, Icarus safely pass by Earth at a distance of about 8 million kilometers. The next time an asteroid will approach the Earth at a distance comparable to 75 years: 14 June 2090 will be held at Icarus 6.5 million kilometers from the planet.

 Scientists believe that an asteroid ever may fall in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean between Europe and North America, resulting in the deaths of one fifth of the world’s population.
