Members of the expedition and the Russian Ministry of Defense of the Russian Geographic Society discovered off the coast of Double Bay in the Kurile Islands Matua Japanese aircraft, presumably of the Great Patriotic War. The plane has a serial number of 1733, and
was promoted in 1942. Divers explore the surrounding bays, coves and underwater targets, while professionals could not find traces of locations of German or Japanese submarines.
