On Kuriles we found Japanese aircraft during the Second World War – Rosbalt.RU


 Members of the expedition and the Russian Ministry of Defense of the Russian Geographic Society discovered off the coast of Double Bay in the Kurile Islands Matua Japanese aircraft, presumably of the Great Patriotic War. This was told the head of the press service of the Eastern Military District Alexander Gordeyev.

 

 “Fairly well preserved fuselage with wings suggests that it was a lightweight fighter of World War II Mitsubishi Zero, which squadron was based on Matua Island. On the chassis elements are clearly visible characters, “- he explained

 The plane has a serial number of 1733, and was promoted in 1942. Divers explore the surrounding bays, coves and underwater targets, while professionals could not find traces of locations of German or Japanese submarines.

 

 The expedition of the 200 people on six ships and ships May 7th out of Vladivostok, and arrived at Matua May 14.
