Two years ago, students of ETH Zurich and the University of Arts and Applied Sciences Lucerne designed and built a car that accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 1.785 seconds. Moreover, the machine was not created for setting the record, and to participate in the race electric version of the International Series Formula Student for the team AMZ Racing.
Within a year, the other student team, this time from Germany, was able to beat this achievement. Electric created a team of Stuttgart University GreenTeam, was able to reach speeds of 100 km / h in just 1,779 seconds

Students from Zurich upgraded its elektroformulu Grimsel and were able to significantly surpass the previous record, speeding up ” hundreds “in just 1.513 seconds! For comparison, the fastest serial car, the Porsche 918 hybrid supercar the Spyder, accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 2.2 seconds, while the Formula 1 it takes a little less than two seconds
Such impressive Grimsel performance made possible by four powerful electric motors built into each wheel of the machine, the system of traction control and very low weight of the machine -. only 168 kg
