The crew of the ISS Expedition 47 returned to Earth. Capsules with astronauts successfully landed in the Kazakhstan steppes. Flew evacuated. All of them (Russian Yuri Malenchenko, American Timothy Kopra and Briton Timothy Peak) feel good.
The way home from the crew of the “Union” in total took nearly seven hours. At 5:35 Moscow time the astronauts closed the hatches, put on suits and went into the lander. Another hour left to prepare and test systems, and arrived at 8:51 on a team undocking from the ISS.
For the return of the crew in Mission Control Center in Korolev near Moscow in awe watching the astronauts families. The flight itself took place in the automatic mode. By midday the lander entered the Earth’s atmosphere, a few minutes later opened the main parachute and exactly at 12:15, as planned, the crew landed southeast of the city of Zhezkazgan in Kazakhstan. Rescue team rushed immediately.
On Earth, the crew of Expedition 47 was absent 186 days. The commander – Russian cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko and flight engineer, two – American Timothy Kopra and Englishman Timothy Peak – worked in orbit as part of a joint program of the International Space Station, as well as doing their own research and experiments. There remained time for them and in the hobby. Timothy Peak, for example, “in absentia”, took part in the London Marathon. Strapped to a treadmill in weightlessness, he covered the distance in three and a half hours.
Before the arrival of the next expedition to the ISS will host a crew consisting of cosmonauts Alexei Ovchinin and Oleg Skripochka as well as astronaut Jeffrey Williams. Start of the next manned spacecraft is scheduled for July 7, and already the ninth of “Union” dock with the station and three space explorers will go on board.
