ISS crew successfully captured the space cargo ship Cygnus using the robotic arm Canadarm2. For hand control replied astronaut Tim Kopra, he was assisted by Tim Peak. The docking took place at 13:51 Moscow time and broadcast live.

After seizing control of the Canadarm-2 will take over the Mission Control Center. A few hours later the Houston team will give the robot to rotate and truck docking to the ISS “Unity” module. It is expected that the ship will be docked to the ISS until May, after which the crew will disconnect it from the station. Subsequently, Cygnus will burn in the dense layers of the atmosphere.

Cygnus deliver to the ISS equipment for a number of scientific experiments, in particular, to study the chemical composition of the meteor enters the Earth’s atmosphere. Also on board the ship is 3D-printer is a new generation and a special installation Saffire-1 to simulate and study of fires in conditions of weightlessness. The latter will be used after Cygnus would be at a safe distance from the station. The total weight of the payload is about three and a half tonnes.

The ship was launched to the ISS on March 23 from Cape Canaveral. At its orbit brought Atlas-V rocket. This is the fifth successful flight of this type of cargo ships to the ISS.
